Through it all, it is well with my soul. God is good and has been faithful to me. It was in my high school days at a youth group meeting I gave my life to Jesus. The Holy Spirit touched my life and I became a follower of Jesus. Like most people, my life has had its challenges, struggles and hardships along with great moments in in my life where God really touched and blessed me. A powerful miracle God performed in me on January 5, 2001. I was in intensive care at Rush Hospital on a Saturday night and the doctors decided I needed emergency surgery to remove a blood clot in the brain. The chance that I would survive was not good. If I did survive I might be in a vegetable stage of life. Doctors were unable to perform surgery due to many blood clots that they found in the brain. They decided to wait through the night and determine in the morning the next course of action. On Sunday morning the doctors said to me, “We don’t know how you made it through the night.” I looked at the surgeon and stroke doctor and said, “By the grace of God I am here.” A long road of recovery followed. God had a plan for my life that I never saw coming. I transitioned from corporate work to ministry work.
My career started in the private sector and I worked in management positions throughout my career. Through Union Carbide I earned my management and administration degree. I am ordained in office by the RCA. I am currently a consultant for the Reformed Church in America and the Regional Synod of the RCA. I have worked with churches in revitalization and “Fresh Start” for churches in New York, California, Michigan and in the Chicagoland area for fifteen years. I am also part of a team that is planting a church in Garfield Ridge in Chicago near Midway Airport. The last ten years I served as the Chicago Classis leader that oversees ten churches throughout the area.
My wife, Mary Beth, and I have been on this journey together in life. We’ve been married for 41 years and God has blessed us with our son who is married eight years and our daughter who is married one year; both live in the local area. No grandkids yet! I am a Chicago White Sox fan.
I am blessed and honored to serve as the Executive Administrator / Pastor at Calvary Church.
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Philippians 1:21
